Food Wheel



We must eat a little bit of everything!
Although everybody knows that the food wheel attempts to represent the types of food that we should eat more in the larger groups and vice versa, it is still something that's not represented in most people's diets.
We should balance our diet so that we eat more of what we need the most.


Our Diet must be balanced!
We cannot look at some foods as if these sole foods could possibly make us fat. In order for somebody not to gain weight we need to balance the amount of calories that we ingest and the amount of calories that we lose on a daily basis. Naturally if we eat more calories than what our body needs we will end up gaining weight and vice versa even though this may not be this simple. In the food wheel we have the most important foods in the largest portions of the wheel therefore we must eat more of them, but that doesn't mean that the other smaller groups do not contain very important nutrients. For this reason every group of the food wheel is important for our nutrition, even though some of them might be more relevant than the others.


Our nourishment should be diverse!
It is not uncommon that most everybody is used to certain types of foods and that make us eat the same foods over and over again, but it is fundamental for us to try new flavors. Looking at a healthy diet and lifestyle from a psychologic point of view, it ends up being grueling to consume the same type of foods all the time, so it is easier to cheat on our diet in search of something different. So it is crucial that we make a broad search on the different foods between the same groups of the food wheel to find out which ones can we include in our diet. This way we will be able to make our diet a lot more diverse.
